Why Join?

Let’s be honest. When you think of a sorority, you think of women in college. But we vowed to be Kappas beyond our college days and into the lives of families and careers.

Whether it’s to network, make new friends or find someone to support you through parenthood, we’re here and we want to help. Reconnect with Kappa by joining your local alumnae association today.

You’re invited to join the Kappa Kappa Gamma Greater Hartford Alumnae Association! We are a growing association of diverse Kappa Alumnae Sisters of all ages, from Chapters located across the U.S., thriving on tradition, friendship, and involvement. We come together throughout the year at various meetings, social events, and gatherings, and somehow always seem to have a great time! Maybe it’s the Kappa in us ;-) While all meetings, events, and/or gatherings may not fit all of our very busy schedules – some of us have full-time careers working long hours, have kids or grand-kids and their schedules to keep up with, travel, are in school taking classes full-time, or juggle too many things at once (guilty) – when we do get the chance to spend time together it is time well spent sharing laughs, sharing memories, and making new ones. While this may paint a picture of us simply spending our time together “socializing” – sure, we all love a nice, fun, and relaxing social hour or event – there is a greater good that we continuously work on supporting, even during the most “social” of times…

We collect hundreds of books and school supplies on an annual basis to donate to local schools in need and support our national philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental…

We donate money to the Kappa Foundation on an annual basis which provides help to Kappa sisters in times of need, scholarships, leadership training, and the preservation of our Kappa and women’s history at The Heritage Museum and The Stewart House…

We support our local Kappa Chapter at Trinity College through advising Chapter Officers, serving on the House Board (to support and preserve the Chapter facility), recognizing individual academic and leadership successes, and more importantly, I think, by showing our Fraternity’s youngest of members that there is Kappa life after active membership – the Kappa journey, and fun, do not end with our undergraduate years.

The possibilities and opportunities to stay involved with Kappa are endless and the ability of the GHAA to continue efforts and provide such opportunities would not be possible without the strength of our membership – that’s where you come in!

We all live busy, complicated lives with either kids at home to look after, long work schedules, or hours of never-ending homework and studying for school exams – we could all use a little break from the stresses of our everyday routines. We offer a variety of activities for varying interests, there is something for everyone and all levels of involvement are welcome! If you don’t feel you have the spare time to participate in association events, simply becoming a member is a chance to stay connected to Kappa.

If you’re already a member of our Alumnae Association, thank you for your support! If you’re new to the area or simply looking to reconnect to our sisterhood, we hope you will join us! Joining an Alumnae Association is truly a unique opportunity to remain involved and connected to the Fraternity while broadening our Kappa experience. Our sisterhood does not end with college life, wherever we go Kappa will bring new friendships and build new memories.
